Easy and reliable monitoring of the water values of aquariums and ponds. Determination of the optimal nitrite value for the filter control in freshwater and seawater
Laboratory comparator system to compensate the inherent water colouring: fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagents to another cuvette, place both cuvettes in holder, read values on colour chart
When to use: for setting up a new freshwater aquarium: daily for 3 weeks. For initial setup with marine water: once a week. During fish disease or fish mortality.
1 quick test, Nitrite Test NO2. Contents for approx. 50 measurements. Incl. 2 reagents, 2 glass vials with screw cap, syringe, comparator block and colour scale. Refill ingredients available separatelyHealthy aquarium/healthy pond with conditions close to nature
The right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium/pond. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium/pond. To maintain a healthy aquarium/pond with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly.
For each water analysis JBL provides water tests in the form of quick tests or colour change tests. These determine a certain value or several values in one go. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc.
Why test?Nitrite results during the degradation by bacteria of protein and ammonium. It is normally processed further into non-toxic nitrate. In aquarium and pond water nitrite (NO2) should not be measurable. If nitrate is measurable, it is a sign that the bacterial degradation process has been disturbed, and from a concentration of 0.4 mg/l it is dangerous or even fatal for fish, because nitrite blocks the transport of oxygen in the blood. This can be remedied by water changes and good bacteria starters, such as JBL Denitrol and JBL BactoPond.
PROAQUATEST SiO2 Silicate - JBL
Quick test to determine the silicate content in freshwater & marine aquariums
Package contents: 1 silicate test for approx. 50 measurements, incl. 2 reagents, 2 glass vials with screw caps, dosing spoon, syringe, comparator block and color scale. Reagent refill separately available
Silicates (silicic acid) are the cause of unsightly diatoms. With this test you determine the silicate content for diatom control in freshwater and marine aquariums
Laboratory comparator system to compensate the inherent water color: fill glass vials with sample water, add reagents to one vial, place vials in holder, read values off color chart
Use: when setting up a new aquarium, for checking tap water and during diatom problems
You will find detailed information and troubleshooting tips about water analysis on the JBL website in Essentials/Aquarium
Healthy aquariums with conditions close to nature The right water values are dependent on the fish stock and the plants in the aquarium. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With these water tests you can recognise algae problems and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values etc. Why test? Silicon is one of the most common elements in the world. As a result of the weathering of silicate rocks, silicon is washed into surface and ground water in the form of silicate. Depending on the composition of the rocks in a particular area, the mains water will contain varying amounts of dissolved silicate. The significance of silicon for aquariums and garden ponds is as a nutrient for diatoms, some aquatic plants, siliceous sponges and many other invertebrates. JBL Online Laboratory Regular monitoring for a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature. Enter your water values into the JBL Online Laboratory and get an in-depth analysis of your values within seconds. Recommended silicate values: Freshwater aquarium (community aquarium): 0-2.0 mg/l Lake Malawi/Lake Tanganyika aquarium: the silicate content is not relevant here because grazing fish species like eating diatoms Plant aquarium with few fish (aquascaping): 0-2.0 mg/l Marine water Aquarium: 0-1.0 mg/l Pond: 0-2.0 mg/l
JBL Nitrate Test NO3 - Quick test to determine the nitrate content in fresh and saltwater aquariums and pond

Why test?Nitrate is the end product of the mineralisation in the aquarium/pond. Even in relatively high concentrations it is non-toxic for fish, but has an adverse effect for plant growth and the well-being of many a fish species. Furthermore too high nitrate contents promote unwanted algae growth if phosphate is present in the water as well as nitrate.
JBL Ammonium Test NH4 - Quick test
for the determination of ammonium/ammonia content in fresh and saltwater aquariums and ponds
Controls the water values in aquariums/ponds easily and reliably.
Determines the ideal ammonium/ammonia value for filter checking in fresh and saltwater
Laboratory comparator system to compensate the inherent water colouring: fill plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagents to another cuvette, place both cuvettes in holder, read values on colour chart, read in pH/NH4 table, how much ammonium has changed into toxic ammonia
Duration of use: for setting up a new freshwater aquarium: 1 x daily. Initial setup with marine water: once a week. During fish diseases or fish mortality.

Why test? The degradation or mineralisation process of all organic substances in the aquarium and pond follows these stages: proteins > ammonium > nitrite > nitrate. By measuring these stages conclusions can be drawn about the “functioning” of the systems aquarium and pond. If the ammonium or nitrite level is too high it can lead to disturbances of the bacterial balance. Ammonium is not usually measurable in a maintained aquarium with an effective biological filter and in a correctly set up garden pond. Ammonium is an important plant nutrient and normally non-toxic for fish. But depending on the pH value ammonia, which is toxic for fish, can be formed from the ammonium ion.

AquaMaker is a powerful, fast-working water conditioner.
It makes aggressive tap water immediately suitable for all freshwater and marine aquariums. AquaMaker can also be used in reef aquariums and garden ponds. It is absolutely safe for all fish, plants, corals, shrimps, snails and the biological filter.
AquaMaker is very versatile:
Removes chlorine
Removes chloramine
Removes heavy metals like copper, zinc and lead
Binds and detoxifies poisonous ammonia
Binds and neutralizes toxic nitrite
Binds and neutralizes nitrate
Destresses fish
Protects the mucous membrane and gills of fish
AquaMaker has no impact on the pH, KH or GH. Furthermore, AquaMaker will not overactivate skimmers.UseAquaMaker is best added to the tap water used for the water change. Only use the dose for the volume of this new tap water. Thus, aggressive substances are immediately neutralized.AquaMaker can of course also be added directly to the aquarium. In this case, base the dosage on the total volume of the aquarium water.
DosageThe standard dosage is 10 ml AquaMaker per 50 liters of aquarium water.Or:The standard dosage is 1 US fl oz AquaMaker per 40 US Gallons of aquarium water.Shake before use. The product may release a sulfur odor.Example: dosing to tap water for water changeFive buckets of each 10 liters are filled to change water. Dose 2 ml of AquaMaker in each bucket and mix it. The mixture can be added to the aquarium right away, because AquaMaker works instantly.Example: dosing to an aquariumAn aquarium has a water volume of 100 liters and 20 liters of water is changed. The dosage of AquaMaker is for the full water content, in this case 100 liters. The addition to the aquarium water should be 20 ml of AquaMaker.Deviating dosages – concentrations of chloramine, chlorine and nitrite & water temperature* use a half dose of AquaMaker (5 ml per 50 liters; 1 US fl oz per 80 US Gallons) at low concentrations of chlorine, chloramine or ammonia* use a double dose of AquaMaker (20 ml per 50 liters; 2 US fl oz per 40 US Gallons) at higher concentrations of chlorine, chloramine of ammonia* emergency: use a triple dose of AquaMaker (30 ml per 50 liter; 3 US fl oz per 40 US Gallons) at very high nitrite concentrations (3 mg/L or higher) or at very high ammonia concentrations (1 mg/L or higher)* use up to half a dose of AquaMaker (maximum) as soon as the water temperature reaches 30 ºC (= 86 ºF)
