Budgerigars Region of origin: Budgerigars live and breed in large swarms in the grass and bush steppes of Australia. In 1840 the English naturalist Sir John Gould brought a pair of budgies to Europe for the first time. These became so to speak the stammer parents of the popular ornamental birds. Today, catching and exporting Australian budgies is forbidden. The birds on the market all come from offspring. Sex differences: One recognizes squabs by the pink nose-skin, dark eyes and the wave-drawing on the forehead up to the nose-root. After the young mouse at the age of about 3 months, the nasal skin turns blue in the male and beige-brown in the female. In albinos (white with red eyes) and lutinos (yellow with red eyes) the skin of the nose is pink in both sexes. female budgerigar male budgerigar Attitude: In its homeland, the wild budgerigars live in big swarms since they are extremely sociable. Therefore they should be kept in cages with at least two of us. A single bird would wither on its own. Kanarienvogel (Serinus canaria forma domestica)Herkunftsgebiet: Kanarienvögel stammen, wie der Name schon sagt, von den Kanarischen Inseln. Der Kanariengirlitz, ursprünglich gelbgrün, wird heute in verschiedenen Zuchtfarben- und Formen angeboten. Zuchtformen und -farben: Gesangskanarien Farbkanarien Gestaltskanarien Kanarienbastarde Geschlechtsunterschiede: Eine Bestimmung des Geschlechts ist vor allem über den Gesang des Männchens möglich. Geschlechtsreife Kanarienmännchen singen, um ein Weibchen anzulocken, Markierung des Reviers und als "Begleitmusik" zum Nestbau. Kanarienweibchen singen zwar auch, aber so selten und leise, dass man sie kaum hört.Während der Brutzeit ist beim Männchen zudem die Kloake erhöht, beim Weibchen ist sie flacher. Haltung: Bei guter Haltung in einer für sie attraktiven Umgebung fühlen sich Kanarienvögel wohl. Auch wenn sie nicht ganz so zutraulich wie Wellensittiche werden, macht es doch viel Freude, ihr Treiben zu beobachten und sich an ihren Farben und ihrem Gesang zu erfreuen.Am wohlsten fühlen sich Kanarienvögel, wenn man sie paarweise oder in Gruppen hält. Als Wohnung bietet sich ein grosser Vogelkäfig oder eine Zimmervoliere an. Bei einem Käfig muss bedacht werden, dass Fliegen ein Grundbedürfnis eines Vogels ist. Deshalb sollte der Käfig so gewählt werden, dass der Kanarienvogel wenigstens ein paar Flügelschläge fliegen kann.Die Voliere oder der Käfig  sollte man an einen hellen, zugfreien Standort stellen. Die kleinen Sänger fühlen sich auch an der frischen Luft wohl. Halbschatten ist ideal, pralle Sonne oder Frost dürfen nicht sein.Damit Kanarienvögel sich wohl fühlen braucht man: Voliere  oder Käfig Sitzstangen von verschiedener Dicke oder Naturäste (Weiden, Pappeln oder Obstbäume) Bade- oder Duschmöglichkeit Futter und Trinknapf Nahrung: Die Nahrung besteht aus einer speziellen  Körnermischung für Kanarienvögel.  Markenfutter enthält die richtige Mischung von verschiedenen Körnern, die alle Nährstoffe abdeckt.Zusätzlich sollte den Vögeln zur Verfügung stehen: Sepiaschale  - dient zur Deckung des Kalkbedarfs Vogelsand - enthält wichtige Bestandteile für die Verdauung ungespritztes Gemüse (z.B. Chicorée /Spinat / Kresse / Karotten, Gurkenscheiben) ungespritztes Obst (z.B. Apfelstückchen / Birnen) ungespritzte Wildkräuter (z.B. Vogelmiere / Vogelknöterich / Hirtentäschel / junger Löwenzahn) Kolbenhirse (1x wöchentlich, da der Fettgehalt hoch ist, leiden die Kanarienvögel sonst an Überfettung). Eifutter  und Keimfutter Kräcker und Knabberstangen sind gesunde Leckerbissen, die dazu dienen, dass der Vogel sich sein Futter erarbeiten muss. Trinkwasser angereichert mit Vitamintropfen Futter, Wasser und Frischfutter muss täglich erneuert werden. Zucht: Kanarienvögel legen 4-6 Eier in offene Nistkörbchen. Als Nistmaterial brauchen sie Sepia, Heu und verschiedene Materialien.Die Jungen sind blind, nackt und völlig hilflos, wenn sie nach 13-14  Tage Brutzeit schlüpfen.  Mit 16 Tagen sind die Kanarienvögel flügge. Trennen von den Elternvögeln sollte man die Jungvögel frühestens ab einem Alter von 6 Wochen. In der Schweizerischen Tierschutzgesetzgebung sind gesetzliche Vorschriften enthalten, welche die tiergerechte Haltung von und den Umgang mit Vögeln regeln. Folgende Regelungen gelten für alle Vogelarten: soziallebende Arten sind sozial zu halten (keine Einzelhaltung) die Gehege müssen den Minimalmassen = Mindestanforderungen entsprechen allen Vögeln muss eine Badegelegenheit angeboten werden die Gehege sind mit verschiedenen, federnden Sitzgelegenheiten unterschiedlicher Dicke und Ausrichtung zu strukturieren, wobei ein Drittel des Volumens frei von Strukturen sein muss allen Vögeln ist geeigneter Sand zur Aufnahme zur Verfügung zu stellen die private Haltung gewisser Vogelarten ist bewilligungspflichtig (Wildtierhaltebewilligung) die Ständerhaltung von Papageienvögeln und die Haltung von Gesangskanarien in Harzerbauern ist verboten die Verwendung von Sandhülsen als Überzug von Sitzstangen ist verboten für Prachtfinken gilt: minimale Gehege Grundfläche für 4 Vögel: 0,24 m2 (z.B. 60 cm x 40 cm) minimale Höhe 50 cmBevor Sie sich für Kanarienvögel entscheiden, sollten Sie unbedingt ein entsprechendes Fachbuch gelesen haben.Für jede Tierhaltung gilt: Kinder müssen von den Eltern angeleitet, beaufsichtigt und kontrolliert werden.
