Hemp bedding has incredibly high absorbency. It does not produce dust and is odour-neutralising.
This litter is characterised by its high moisture and odour absorption capacity, meaning the cage needs to be cleaned less frequently than, for example, with wood shavings

The mixture of corn leaf, moss and pine cones encourages foraging and supports natural instincts – for more activity in everyday life.Suitable for: Guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, hamsters, rats, large parakeets, parakeets, canaries or zebra finchesProduct benefits:Varied natural mixture of corn leaf, moss and pine conesCan be used as a topping layer over the bedding100% natural, without additives or chemicalsRich in structure for an exciting, natural environment Stimulates foraging and searching behaviour (food can be hidden)Keeps them occupied for longer and supports mental exerciseCreates a nature-like, “wild” environment in the enclosurePromotes active movement and exploratory behaviourTechnical dataContent: 10 litresMaterial: corn leaf, moss, pine conesProperties: 100% natural, without additivesThe application is uncomplicated: Add the Discovery Topping as an extra layer to the existing bedding. This creates a realistic, “forest-floor-like” surface that is modelled on natural habitats. Your animals will experience more different materials under their paws, claws or scales – this can enhance well-being because the environment feels more exciting and closer to nature. A key benefit is in encouraging foraging behaviour. In the wild, many animals spend a lot of time searching for food. This natural need is often neglected in the everyday lives of pets. With the Discovery Topping, you can hide treats or food specifically in the mixture. Your animals will thus be motivated to search, sniff and discover. This supports both physical activity and mental stimulation – two important factors for a balanced, occupied animal.

Back Zoo Nature experience bedding for rodents or birds100 % naturalMade from coconut barkdoes not moldretains moistureabsorbentContents 20 litersCan be made even more interesting with the additives for the substrate from Back Zoo Nature.Back Zoo Nature Bedding is made from the bark of the coconut and is an extremely ecological floor covering. It is 100% natural, biodegradable and therefore good for the environment.Back Zoo Nature Bedding is in many ways the best choice when it comes to floor coverings for birds and rodents (less suitable for rats). Among other things, it retains moisture without becoming moldy. This also makes it ideal for outdoor enclosures.Birds generally require a good humidity level of 50 to 60 % or more. In many households, the humidity (mainly in winter) is not much higher than 30%. By choosing Back Zoo Nature Bedding as a ground cover and moistening it, the humidity is increased significantly.Back Zoo Nature Bedding also has the advantage that birds and rodents can burrow in it without the litter ending up next to the cage. It is much more compact than sand or beech shavings, so that it is not whirled up/carried away so quickly. This is because birds and rodents also like to dig.A large proportion of the food they eat in their natural habitat is also found on the ground. This therefore also stimulates natural behavior. The use of sand can affect the bird's eyes/respiratory tract and beech shavings can easily become moldy, which is also harmful to the bird.Back Zoo Nature Bedding is therefore the perfect ground cover with many benefits that will have a positive impact on the habitat of any captive bird or rodent. Can be disposed of in compost.
Willow bark from Back Zoo Nature
Back Zoo Nature willow bark is ideal for enriching ground cover and is a 100% natural product. Birds, especially the scimitars such as parrots or lovebirds, love to tear and peel willow twigs, which stimulates them both mentally and physically. For rodents, the willow wood is important to ensure tooth abrasion. Natural wood must be offered to rodents and birds by law.Adventure beddingRodent materialOccupationSuitable for rodents and birdsContents approx. 120g
Bring nature back into your enclosure with Back Zoo Nature. In nature, birds and rodents spend most of their time on the ground looking for food. Encourage this natural behavior by enriching the floor covering with various materials such as leaves, twigs and pine cones.
Corn leaves from Back Zoo Nature
Back Zoo Nature Corn Husk is ideal to enrich the ground cover for your hummingbird. Back Zoo Nature Corn Husks are a 100% natural product made from dried corn cob leaves. Just like in nature, birds such as parakeets or parrots can forage for food in these leaves. This also makes the shreds suitable as filling material for toys. Back Zoo Nature also ensures that the corn leaves in the substrate enrich the enclosure and give it a natural look.

Mealworms - Tenebrio molitor
The mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) is one of the oldest commercially bred feeder animals. They are relatively easy to breed.
For birds
in small quantities also for reptiles
The mealworm is actually the beetle larva of the meal beetle. It hatches from an egg and grows to a size of approx. 25 mm after moulting several times. Eventually the beetle larva pupates, from which a beetle emerges again. Mealworms are among the oldest commercially bred feeder animals. They are relatively easy to breed and are produced in large quantities. Mealworms are actually pests which are mainly known from grain mills, as the larvae prefer to feed on flour or its waste products. As it is not possible to use insecticides in mills, an infestation is difficult to control.
Mealworms are a classic food for soft-feeding birds. Hundreds of tons of these beetle larvae are produced throughout Europe every year for this purpose. A bird's stomach is well adapted to this type of food. A mealworm consists largely of a hard, chitinous shell and, due to its fairly simple diet, contains few nutrients. The stomach of a reptile, on the other hand, is not well adapted to these conditions. If too many or only mealworms are fed to reptiles, deficiency symptoms or obesity can occur. You can also see from the animals' faeces that mealworms are only poorly digested. Feeding mealworms with vegetables or fruit before feeding only has the effect of a certain vitaminization, which could also be achieved by dusting the beetle larvae with a vitamin preparation. The high fat content of mealworms is another reason why the larvae should only be given to reptiles as supplementary food.
For many bird lovers, however, they represent the staple food of their favourites and this is mainly what they are bred for. At temperatures below 10 degrees C. the animals become motionless but are not dead. This can be utilised for storage. At temperatures of 6-8 degrees C. the animals can be stored for several weeks without food.Order by Sunday evening - delivery on ThursdayOrders received by Sunday evening will be sent by A-Post on Wednesday or Thursday. Please provide a recipient address where the parcel can be delivered. We accept no responsibility for parcels that are delivered late or collected late.
The live feeder animals in the shop are only available at this price on Wednesdays - prices per tin are otherwise Fr. 1.00 per tin higher, as we also feed and care for the feeder animals.
Even with the greatest care, it can happen that feeder animals die due to temperature fluctuations or unpredictable events. We accept no liability for this.
