In the past, almost every aquarist caught water fleas himself in nature and fed them to his fish. Today it is generally forbidden for nature conservation reasons and many waters are now so heavily polluted that it is no longer safe to catch food animals. JBL uses trusted suppliers who have legal access to absolutely clean waters with harmless water flea populations. The water fleas are preserved and packaged directly after catching by sun drying. In this way, their valuable ingredients and dietary fiber are preserved and benefit the diet of ornamental fish.
Water fleas (Daphnia): They grow to 1-5 mm in size, biologically belong to the gill-foot crabs and thus to the freshwater plankton of stagnant waters.
