JBL ProScape Fe + Microelements - Basic fertilizer
JBL ProScape Fe + Microelements - basic fertilizer with iron, potassium, magnesium and complete trace elements required by plants.
- already contains potassium, but this can also be added extra if many plant species consume large amounts (JBL ProScape K Macroelements)
- specially designed for heavily planted aquascaping aquariums
- dosage depends on light intensity and CO₂ addition
- contains a pump dispenser that can be screwed onto the bottle instead of the cap and dispenses 2 ml per pump stroke
Healthy plant growth is based on the following three main pillars: a supply of light, a supply of CO2 and a sufficient/optimal supply of mineral nutrients. The supply of nutrients is described by Liebig's minimum law. According to this, the substance that is present in the minimum limits the growth of the plants, regardless of whether it is a micro or macro element. Micro elements are trace elements that are required by the plants in small quantities, while macro elements are used in larger quantities for growth.
In a well-planted aquarium, both micro and macro elements are consumed in large quantities. In addition to the microelements, the macroelements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium quickly fall to a minimum, especially when the fish population is low. JBL ProScape Fe +Microelements, which contains all the necessary trace elements in a balanced formula, is suitable for the basic supply of microelements.
Trace elements play a decisive role in all life processes. For example, iron is required for the synthesis of the green leaf pigment chlorophyll, cobalt, copper, manganese and zinc are so-called co-factors of proteins, without which they cannot perform their respective functions, boron plays an important role in the regulation of calcium metabolism and in sugar transport within the plant.
The drinking waters most commonly used in aquariums have different levels of these micro-trace elements depending on the water supplier, but it can generally be said that drinking water tends to be low in these minerals. For exact dosing of the JBL ProScape Fe +Microelements fertilizer, we recommend determining the current iron content with the JBL Fe Test Set. Iron can be used here as a sum indicator for the other trace elements. It is now possible to measure the iron content with sufficient accuracy using commercially available aquarium tests, so that the supply of microelements can be checked using this value.
JBL ProScape Fe +Microelements adds all the necessary trace elements to the aquarium water, as well as the necessary macroelements potassium and magnesium.
The normal dosage is 10 ml / 100 l of water for a high-intensity aquarium with >= 1 W / l illuminance, for aquariums with a lower amount of light available, the dosage is 5 ml/100 l of water. The supply of carbon dioxide must also be taken into account, and the following table (Fig.) shows the recommended values for fertilization depending on the conditions of the aquarium.
As the actual consumption cannot be predicted exactly, we recommend checking the iron value regularly with the JBL Fe Test Set, especially before the next top-up dose
